Symposium “English Language Teaching in Italy (1900-2000)”. Registration opening on 2 Sept.

On 20 Sept. 2024, the Italy ELT Archive will be launched officially during a Symposium taking place at the Ca’ Granda, the main seat of the University “Statale” of Milan (Italy), in Via Festa del Perdono, 7 (Aula 309).

The Symposium, which is titled “English Language Teaching in Italy (1900-2000). A historical archive of ELT materials at the University of Milan” will gather experts from the world of academia, education, and teachers’ associations who will explore the history of English language education and materials development in the Italian context. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend a workshop on ELT materials evaluation and development using resources from the Archive.

Registration to the Symposium is free of charge but compulsory, and it will be possible between Mon. 2 Sept. and Fr. 13 Sept. 2024. Mon. 16 Sept. 2024.

Participants can register for the morning sessions (9:00-13:30) and/or for the afternoon workshop (14:30-16:00). Please use the online form which will be active starting from 2 Sept. 2024.

The event is open to a limited number of participants only. Participants’ admission is based on the chronological order of registration. Those who will be admitted will be notified via email. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

UPDATE (13 SEPT. 2024) The afternoon workshop is fully booked, but we are still accepting participants in the morning sessions!

The Italy ELT Archive is a project led by Professors Luciana Pedrazzini and Andrea Nava at the Department of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Mediations, University of Milan. Its aim is to promote research into ELT history in Italy while providing scholars, students, and teachers with tools to understand the linguistic and methodological principles underpinning ELT materials production in 20th Century Italy.
