Description
The founder of this publishing house was Bruno Mondadori, the brother of Arnoldo, who himself founded the now leading publishing group in Italy, the Gruppo Mondadori. Arnoldo Mondadori had been publishing school textbooks between 1910 and 1945. After the Second World War, these activities were transferred to Bruno Mondadori Editore, which was founded with the specific aim of targeting the school context.
In the Eighties, Bruno Mondadori Editore became one of the main publishers for school textbooks in Italy, while in the Nineties it expanded its portfolio and began publishing also essays and other genres.
In 1999, Bruno Mondadori merged with another famous Italian publishing house, Paravia, thus giving rise to the brand Paramond, headquarted in Turin.
In 2006, Paramond was acquired by Pearson Education PLC, a publishing and media group based in London. Following this acquisition, the company was renamed Pearson Paravia Bruno Mondadori, and it was given control of Pearson Education, which owns Pearson Longman, a brand launched in 1724, popular for its books for the teaching and learning of English as a foreign language.
In 2022, Pearson Paravia Bruno Mondadori was acquired by the Finnish group Sanoma, which now publishes materials targeting Italian learners in pre-primary, primary, and secondary school.
