Cideb was founded in Bologna at the end of the Seventies, specialising in the adaptation and distribution of textbooks for the teaching and learning of French. In the mid Nineties, the headquarters were moved to Rapallo, in the Province of Genoa, and the publisher soon began to enrich its catalogue with textbooks for the teaching and learning of English and other European languages such as German and Spanish. The catalogue also included graded readers and preparation resources for international language certificates.
The headquarters were moved to Milan in 2015, and currently Cideb is a brand belonging to Dea Scuola, one of the major publishers of school textbooks in Italy, which has been part of the conglomerate Gruppo Mondadori since 2021.
