Short description
The Student’s book is divided into 36 units, preceded by an introductory one, and every sixth unit is dedicated to revising the contents of the previous ones.
The main sections of each unit, as described on the back cover, are the following:
- Presentation text, which consists of a dialogue, in some cases presented by means of comic strips.
- Communicate in English, with activities for oral practice, focusing on linguistic functions such as accepting, refusing, thanking, talking about yourself, talking about abilities, etc.
- Riflessione sulla lingua, which promotes learners’ reflection on language by adopting “inductive and discovery-based techniques” (Pedrazzini 2023, 152). This section usually follows a communication activity, and this helps learners “develop some kind of awareness about the specific language feature they have just used” (Pedrazzini 2023, 151) in the communication activity itself.
- English for your curriculum, including activities linked to the other subjects in the lower secondary school curriculum.
- Skills work, for the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills towards the final examination at the end of lower secondary school.
- Study skills, presenting techniques that help learners learn more effectively.
- Pronunciation, with activities focusing on the sounds of the English language, its rhythm and intonation.
The Student’s book is supplemented by three workbooks and four audiocassettes.
