Short biography
Arthur F. Powell OBE attended King’s College School (Wimbledon) and later studied Russian at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (University of London). In 1957 he married Julia, who came from Spain, in London. After that they moved to Italy, where Arthur F. Powell worked for the British Council as an English teacher, while they lived in Milan, Naples and Palermo.
In Italy, Arthur F. Powell held an English course on the radio.
Arthur F. Powell and his wife later moved to Spain, and in 1967 he founded a British school in Madrid, the Runnymede College, which is still active today.
Arthur F. Powell authored materials for Italian and Spanish learners, as well as the book Didattica della lingua inglese: Metodologia dell'insegnamento linguistico, pronuncia, accentazione, ritmo e intonazione dell'inglese, published by Mursia in 1967.
