Short biography

Norman Whitney authored many popular ELT materials for the Oxford University Press, and he was the editor of the English Language Teaching Journal from 1987 and 1992.
Before beginning his career in ELT, he studied in the UK and the USA. He was Head of EFL at Ealing College of Higher Education in London and then Joint Chief Inspector of The British Council's scheme for accrediting EFL schools in the UK. Between 1996 and 1999 he was a consultant with the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, where he was responsible for the design and content of teacher training programmes. He was a member of the English Speaking Union and was also active as a consultant to a number of organisations on online teaching materials development.
