Short biography
Martin Dodman graduated in English Literature at the College of Arts and Technology in Cambridge and later completed postgraduate studies in Comparative Literature at Columbia University, New York. He started his career at the British Council in 1976 with a job as lecturer and trainer in Teaching Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics in various countries (until 1995).
Between 1989 and 2017, Dodman worked as a lecturer in a number of Italian universities and in the Republic of San Marino, holding courses in applied linguistics, foreign language education, glottodidactics, and English linguistics, to name a few.
Between the 1980s and the 2010 he worked as a consultant for multilingual education, curriculum development, and teacher professional assessment in several Italian institutions, such as the Municipality of Florence, the Local Educational Authority Autonomous Region of the Valle d’Aosta, and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Between 1985 and 2018 he was a teacher trainer on courses on Educational Policies and Systems, Managing Curriculum Renewal, Teacher Professional Development, Educational Research, Multicultural and Multilingual Learning Environments on behalf of local educational authorities and the Italian Ministry of Education.
